I am an avid cyclist who recently purchased a Hydrow rower to help me regain strength and stamina after 5 months of chemotherapy. I hired Megan for 1-on-1 virtual rowing instructions and was so impressed with her that I asked her to become my rehab coach. My fitness regimen was to include cycling, rowing and mat work.
I have just completed twelve amazing weeks of working together. My strength and endurance have increased greatly. My cycling is close to what it was pre chemo. Following her custom program each week not only brought me back to my old self, but kept me honest about training and recovering properly. I FEEL GREAT !!
Megan is a great listener and an intuitive coach. I have loved working with her. my only regret is that I didn't find her sooner.

I can't say enough about Megan Hanewald's rowing and training instruction. Having never been an active kid in sports, or any type of athleticism and trying to become an athlete in my 40's, Megan's coaching and guidance is the reason I am still going. I've injured myself a couple of times and she's been able to remotely restore my programs, and put me on the right path for long term growth rather than immediate intensity.
Helping me to focus on core strength, form and building real confidence in all aspects of training has completely changed my goals and mindset. I can't imagine working with anyone else.

Megan is thoughtful, knowledgeable, and has a strong coach’s eye, making her able to pick out the things you’re doing incorrectly in your stroke. She gives positive feedback and suggests adjustments in ways that you can relate to and understand. She helped both of us immensely. Every time I get on the rower, I hear her voice in my head reminding me about all the things I need to do. When I hear of someone getting a rower, I tell them they need to learn from Megan because she is the best!

Megan was amazing! I took 3 virtual classes with her and every class i felt i was getting better! She helped prepare me by giving me homework to help strengthen my core to help my form! We did live sessions so she was able to point out my form and give me helpful tips of how to improve! I love my rower its a great workout and i owe my love of the rower to Megan! She is excellent! I would highly recommend her!

I had very little experience with indoor rowing when I reached out to Megan for instruction. I knew proper form was important and my form needed so much help (as my lower back told me repeatedly). There are so many components to a proper rowing stroke and trying to piece it all together on my own was overwhelming and ineffective. I saw huge improvement within the first 20 minutes with Megan and the gains continued to grow from there. She is able to meet her clients at their ability level, not hers, and explain things in a way that makes sense to the average person. She is patient and corrects errors while building clients up and increasing confidence. If you are looking for a subject matter expert in the areas of rowing and general overall training who will keep you motivated and engaged, I would strongly encourage working with Megan.

When I added a rower to my home gym I was apprehensive of just trying to following a you-tube video. I had used a rower at the local gym but the trainers at the gym would just ask you to go hard and fast for short periods of time which I did not find enjoyable. I had read however that rowing is a great low-impact full body exercise that helps you build endurance, strength and power. Just what I wanted. I have struggled over the years with injuries from various fitness or sports endeavors and knew I wanted to “get it right”! Megan is the answer for anyone wanting to learn how to row correctly and feel empowered while you are learning the skill of rowing. She is a natural teacher, add on world class rower herself and extremely patient, intuitive and positive trainer. I live in a different country than Megan and yet my one on one live instruction with her felt like she was right there in the room with me watching and giving helpful advice. After rowing for a few months on my rowing machine I signed up for true rowing lessons on the water at our local rowing club because Megan inspired me so much and sparked the interest in rowing as a sport I can partake in as an adult exerciser/athlete. The instructors at the local rowing club asked me if I had prior rowing experience because they noticed my rowing form!

Megan Hanewald is a fantastic rowing coach! I’ve taken both group classes and private lessons with her – I’ve detailed both experiences below. I’ve very much enjoyed my experience training with Megan and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for rowing instruction.
I was first introduced to Megan via group spin classes and group row classes, taken virtually through an app and using my own equipment. From the very beginning, I really liked Megan’s style – even through an app, she has a great warmth to her, and her wonderful and caring personality really shines through. She is clearly an expert in rowing (as well as spinning!); she provides many pointers on instruction and form in her group classes, and her passion for rowing is also very apparent! It’s really motivating being in a class with someone who clearly loves what she is doing.
More recently, I signed up to take private rowing lessons with Megan. We live hours away from one another, so this was done via a video call. I chose to sign up for private lessons because I was totally new to rowing and wanted to have my form checked by an expert. Throughout the three lessons with Megan, I learned the correct form (pre-Megan, I had several issues with my form that may have later caused me injury!!), built up my confidence in rowing, and learned a lot of great tips. I loved how she customized these sessions specifically for me, after we discussed what I was looking for and she evaluated my form. After each class, Megan also provided me a detailed summary of our session as well as homework! By the end of the lessons, I really felt like a true “graduate”, ready to take on more challenging rowing classes (like power rowing – my new favorite!)
